Itinerary for Rishikesh
Planning your days in Rishikesh? Good idea. A rough plan always helps. Not too strict. Just enough so you do not miss the important spots.
This itinerary for Rishikesh is simple. Easy to follow. And still flexible. You can always adjust it according to your mood.
Arrival and First Impressions
Reach Rishikesh. Check in to your hotel. Freshen up.
In the evening, go for a short walk nearby. Visit a local market or a popular spot close to your stay. Do not rush. Just feel the place a little.
Have dinner at a local restaurant. Try something regional. Even if you are not sure what it is. Sometimes it surprises you.
Explore the Main Attractions
Start your morning a bit early. Not too early though.
Visit the famous attractions of Rishikesh. The places people usually talk about. Take your time there. Click pictures. Sit for a few minutes instead of just walking away.
In the afternoon, relax for a while. Maybe go back to the hotel. Or find a small cafe and sit quietly.
Evening can be for shopping or exploring another nearby spot. Keep it light.
Local Experience Day
This day can be a little different.
Explore hidden corners of Rishikesh. Less crowded areas. Local streets. Maybe a viewpoint or a peaceful place.
If adventure activities are available, you can try one. If not, just enjoy the slow pace. That is also fine.
Talk to locals if you get a chance. They always share better tips than the internet.
Last Day and Departure
Wake up without alarm if possible.
Pack your bags slowly. Visit one last place if time allows. Buy small souvenirs. Nothing big. Just something to remember the trip.
Then head back with good memories. And maybe a plan to come again.
This itinerary for Rishikesh is just a base. You can add more days. Remove something. Change the flow.
Trips are personal. Plans should be too.

How to Reach Rishikesh
By Air
The nearest airport is Jolly Grant Airport in Dehradun. It is about 20 kilometres from Rishikesh town. Flights connect it to Delhi, Mumbai, and a few other cities. The airport is small so do not expect too many options.
By Train
Haridwar is the closest major railway station. It is roughly 25 kilometres from Rishikesh. Haridwar is well connected to Delhi, Lucknow, Mumbai, and most big cities so finding a train is usually easy. From Haridwar you take a shared auto or a taxi to Rishikesh. That leg takes around 45 minutes to an hour.
By Road
This is probably the most common way. Buses from Delhi to Rishikesh run regularly from ISBT Kashmere Gate. The journey takes anywhere from 6 to 8 hours depending on traffic near Delhi and on the highway. Volvo buses run overnight and that works well if you want to save a day.

Yes, April is actually a good month for rafting. The water level is decent and the weather is warm enough. Just book early since it starts getting busy around that time.
Plenty. Many ashrams here welcome beginners with no experience at all. A few days programme works well if you want to try without committing to a long course.
Very much yes. Guesthouses near Laxman Jhula are affordable. Food at local dhabas is cheap and honestly good. You can spend very little and still have a full trip here.ShareArtifactsDownload allRishikesh faqsDocument · MD Rishikesh how to reachDocument · MD Rishikesh 10 day itineraryDocument · MD Rishikesh travel guideDocument · MD
