Dehradun Railway Station is in the center of the city. Trains from Delhi, Mumbai, and other major cities arrive here. It is a comfortable option. Once you step out, autos and cabs are easily available.
By Road
Dehradun has good road connectivity. Buses run regularly from Delhi and nearby states. You can also drive. The roads are mostly smooth. The journey from Delhi takes around five to six hours, depending on traffic.

Not extreme ones, but some small trekking routes are fun. River side walks and short hill trails felt peaceful. Nothing too wild though.
If you want Manali snowfall, Dehradun is not that place. Snow is rare here. For snow views, hills further up are better.
I chose a simple place during my Dehradun hotel booking near railway station. Easy check in. Markets and food stalls were just outside. Pretty convenient actually.
