Attingal may be one of the finest pages in God's own diary, if Kerala is called God's own country. Standing in the way of the fledgling English East India Company were those, who, being members of the indigenous population, viewed their advance as adverse trade pushers. Infuriated by the exploitative and unfair trade practices of the British, the people of Attingal revoltingly set upon some representatives of the English company, killing them in an act that shattered colonial administration. The revolt was subdued, but it definitely painted Attingal as a land of fortitude and resistance.
