Itinerary for Ladakh
Planning your days in Ladakh? Good idea. A rough plan always helps. Not too strict. Just enough so you do not miss the important spots.
This itinerary for Ladakh is simple. Easy to follow. And still flexible. You can always adjust it according to your mood.
Arrival and First Impressions
Reach Ladakh. Check in to your hotel. Freshen up.
In the evening, go for a short walk nearby. Visit a local market or a popular spot close to your stay. Do not rush. Just feel the place a little.
Have dinner at a local restaurant. Try something regional. Even if you are not sure what it is. Sometimes it surprises you.
Explore the Main Attractions
Start your morning a bit early. Not too early though.
Visit the famous attractions of Ladakh. The places people usually talk about. Take your time there. Click pictures. Sit for a few minutes instead of just walking away.
In the afternoon, relax for a while. Maybe go back to the hotel. Or find a small cafe and sit quietly.
Evening can be for shopping or exploring another nearby spot. Keep it light.
Local Experience Day
This day can be a little different.
Explore hidden corners of Ladakh. Less crowded areas. Local streets. Maybe a viewpoint or a peaceful place.
If adventure activities are available, you can try one. If not, just enjoy the slow pace. That is also fine.
Talk to locals if you get a chance. They always share better tips than the internet.
Last Day and Departure
Wake up without alarm if possible.
Pack your bags slowly. Visit one last place if time allows. Buy small souvenirs. Nothing big. Just something to remember the trip.
Then head back with good memories. And maybe a plan to come again.
This itinerary for Ladakh is just a base. You can add more days. Remove something. Change the flow.
Trips are personal. Plans should be too.

How to Reach Ladakh
By Air
The fastest way is flying to Kushok Bakula Rimpochee Airport. Flights run from Delhi, sometimes from Mumbai too. Takes around one and a half hour from Delhi. But yeah, the altitude hits suddenly. I felt a bit dizzy first day. Keep it light after landing. Just rest, drink water. Window seat helps, views are something you don’t forget.
By Train
There is no direct train to Ladakh. Nearest stations are Jammu Tawi Railway Station and Pathankot Railway Station. From there, you take a taxi or bus. It becomes a long road journey after that. I met people who did this. They said train part was easy, but road felt long.
By Road
You can go via Manali to Leh highway or Srinagar to Leh highway. Manali route is rough but dramatic. Srinagar route feels smoother and gradual. I found Srinagar side easier on the body. Buses, taxis, self drive, bikes. All options are there. Just don’t rush. Roads can surprise you anytime.
