Athgarh is located at a distance of approximately 40 km from Cuttack city. So one can drive to the place for a day outing or weekend getaway. The place is scenically surrounded by hill ranges, forests, and the picturesque Mahanadi River.

Athgarh Fort

Devotees come in large numbers during Shivratri, with the whole area celebrating with rituals and festivities.

Food in Athgarh

While the larger restaurants do not fare in Athgarh, there are small local eateries serving delectable Odia meals.  Among the famous dishes offered are:

• Pakhala Bhat: A rice soaked in water, served along with some vegetables along with the fried fish.

• Dalmas: A variety of dishes lentils, made with lots of veggies and spices. Fresh river fish curries

• Seasonal sweets such as Chhena Poda are favored.
