November to February is a good time because it is pleasant outside. For that complete spiritual high, try and plan your visit around Karthigai Deepam (usually in November/December). Do not visit in the peak summer.

• Dress Respectfully: Traditional attire is encouraged—dhoti for men and saree or salwar suit for women. 

• No Shoes Inside: Leave footwear outside and walk barefoot; the stone floors can get hot in the afternoon sun.
