Sonamarg is beautiful in winter, but accessibility depends entirely on road conditions and Army clearance. We attempt to take you up to the "Gagangir" or "Hung Park" points where the snow is thickest. If the main road is closed due to heavy snowfall, we will provide an alternative local sightseeing tour so your day is not wasted.
Yes! We understand the Kashmir winter. All hotels included in this package are centrally heated or equipped with effective heating systems. The houseboats provide heating (often traditional wood-fired or gas heaters) and electric blankets to ensure you stay warm and cozy throughout the night.
During heavy snowfall, standard tourist cars are not allowed up to Gulmarg (Tanmarg to Gulmarg stretch) or Sonamarg due to safety regulations. In such cases, you will need to hire local "chained vehicles" (Tyre Chain Cabs) from the local union. This cost is to be paid directly to the driver/union and is not included in the package.
We recommend "layering." Pack thermals (base layer), heavy woolens/fleece jackets, and a windproof/waterproof winter jacket (down jacket). Gloves, woolen caps, and warm socks are mandatory. Since you will be walking on snow, carrying waterproof boots or gumboots (also available for rent locally) is highly advised.
Gondola tickets are not included as they are subject to availability and dynamic pricing. We strongly recommend booking them online at least 3-4 weeks in advance. If you need assistance with the booking link or timings, our team is happy to guide you!
While weather is beyond our control, our support team is available 24/7. If your flight is cancelled, we will assist you in rescheduling your ground transfers and hotel dates (subject to availability). Please note that any airline cancellation charges or extra hotel nights will be borne by the traveler.
